The Household manager is responsible for the smooth running of the
residences or facilities and servicing of principals and guests, usually
supervising others but also providing service herself in any number of
capacities, including managing all the household staffs, housekeeping, record
keeping, shopping for supplies, coordinating family calendars, keeping
household rules and service manuals, working with internal staffs and external
vendors for maintenance of household and facilities, as well as maintaining a
friendly contact with the Principals and guests and fulfilling their requirements
and specifications in an orderly and timely manner.
Supervising Household Staffs
Setting the household and facility service standard, compiling
household and service manuals, household chores and policy
documents for the Principals’ approval.
Hiring, firing, training, and ongoing management of staffs including
domestic helpers, chefs, drivers and service crews required to meet
the service needs of the Principals and guests, assigning tasks and
supervising staffs on their satisfactory performances of service chores.
Maintaining the properties and facilities on regular and routine basis,
including the cleanliness, tidiness and orderliness of the residences
and facilities. This includes, but not limited to, washing, dusting,
polishing, vacuum cleaning and sweeping as deem appropriate.
Overseeing the daily upkeep of the household chores. In charge of
gardening, cooking, cleaning, laundry, ironing, mending clothes,
errands, swimming pool management and all related duties for the
household’s upkeep and kitchen management.
Assisting with the Principals’ personal needs, such as serving during entertaining.
Maintaining fine silver, china, antiques, and other household and
Examining the need for repairs or replacement of furniture or
equipment and makes recommendations whenever necessary.
Overseeing security for the estate and family
Stocking Supplies and Running Errands
Organization and orchestration of social and family events
Administrative and Accounting Functions
General Household Work
Candidates should be well groomed, non-drug user, very healthy,
resourceful and able to perform the duties on all property related tasks over
the long term, with a courteous, discreet, honest and responsible character
Highest level of personal service experience with private families and/or
individuals. Ability to read mood of principal’s and other household
members and adapt accordingly.
Pleasant and professional demeanour, strong work ethic and excellent
organizational skills, able to prioritize work schedules in a dynamic
environment supervise and motivate staff. A liking for people and the ability
to relate to them in a sensitive manner.
Good communication skills. Able to demonstrate adequate levels of literacy,
numeracy and negotiating skills. Ability to represent the household from
telephone manner to reception of guests.
Possess a positive attitude and display eye for detail and the ability to learn
(from observation or inquiry, as appropriate) virtually all household and
personal needs of the principals, and to then anticipate, identify, obtain,
and conduct timely, thoughtful, discreet and unobtrusive delivery of any
such needed items or service, as well as alternative solutions to problem.
Dedicated, diligent and with good initiatives and good sense of humour with
proper social etiquette, protocol, and knowledge in culture, formal service,
fine wines and household trappings.
Vendor and project management experience, and demonstrated
experience in the delivery of thoughtful, discreet and unobtrusive service.
Able to negotiate and manage all contracts, supervise work and review
invoices for all outside serve providers including screening and overseeing
outside vendors, contractors, construction projects, maintenance of pools,
landscaping, autos, yachts, private planes, etc.
